Driver Education Classes

Some Deaf and Hard of Hearing consumers (their primary language is American Sign Language) were having difficulty reading or learning the Florida Driver Handbook in English.  We are offering to teach them with their language in American Sign Language.  We also offer to use our PowerPoint with a lot of pictures (more visual) in it for the consumers to understand in driving education class.  We also offer the practice tests to see if they are ready to take their Learner’s Permit test at the Department of Motor Vehicles.  DMV will be offered in oral examinations with the sign language interpreter (and also Certified Deaf Interpreter) instead of online because of their reading abilities. These classes are expected to run for 15 weeks (quarterly).

USA Citizenship  Training

USA Citizenship classes are expected to run about 15 weeks.  The curriculum consists of a PowerPoint presentation reviewing 100 test questions.  Besides reviewing the test questions, we also reviewed world politics, the differences between Democrats and Republicans, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); and every morning we do the “Pledge of Allegiance†is recited.
